And yeah, in a way it's like a PS2 game (the graphics are definitely better though and the Steam version runs in 60 fps unlike the PS4 and Switch release, I do like how the game looks though btw), but I think that's a good thing.

Despite all of this, I'm more than happy that they got to finally complete the cancelled PS3 game. Still, I would call it the weakest in the series. The few more action-y scenes it has (outside of aftershocks, collapsing buildings etc.) are pretty fun, though. For example there are hunger, stress and thirst meters you can manage, but you don't have to.

This might be due to the creator's intention to have a game everybody can play and complete. The latter were a bit more prominent in the other games. However, Disaster Report 4 focuses more on the adventure and dialogue part with only a few survival elements. And honestly, I can't wait to dig deeper into it after Final Fantasy VII Remake. I played the original Japanese release and now also bought the English version, planning to play through it again. Some impressions would be much appreciated if you do play the game, really curious if it's worth digging out the old sensor bar.ĭisaster Report 4, at least for me, is a fun game. I had the exact same urge to check out Disaster: Day of Crisis after being done with the DR series, but I find it hard to go back to the Wii. I don't remember the details, but he was more pervy in the JP version.Īnd you still drive on the left side of the road in this American city near the Hudson River. There's one small change / cut during the school scene where the crazy teacher chases you after you find him in the bathroom. Mostly serious main plot with B-movie vibes and heartfelt moments, but there's always at least one goofy dialogue option and the wacky sidequests. The tone of the Japanese Raw Danger is the same. Other than that, there's only minor differences.

The most recent game in the series which just came out on PS4/Switch doesn't have any weird changes like those and an overall more serious tone. I don't think something like that would fly today and maybe cause a backlash because of whitewashing, but I think it's pretty hilarious in retrospect. You can still find campaign posters for him throughout the game with his original look from the JP version. Mayor "Goldstein" is a perfect example, he's clearly Asian but they "blondewashed" him and changed his game. Click to shrink.I believe it's mostly cosmetic stuff like giving everyone blonde hair and changing names.
